During a market visit to Madrid in September, CosyClimate met with HVAC distributors, system integrators, installers, manufacturers and other industry professionals. Through face-to-face discussions and product presentations, we explored how control products are selected for different systems, buildings and project requirements in the Spanish market.

Understanding Local HVAC Priorities

A thermostat or room controller may appear suitable on paper, but successful application depends on more than a list of functions. Compatibility with the installed HVAC system, available wiring, control outputs, user expectations and the wider project design all influence the final choice.

Our discussions in Madrid therefore started with the application: how the system is expected to operate, what must be considered during installation and commissioning, and which technical information professionals need before they can make a confident product decision.

Connecting Solutions with Different Applications

The exchange covered fan coil units, heat pumps, underfloor heating and cooling, boiler and radiator control, room-level comfort and BMS integration. These applications involve different equipment, wiring and control requirements. Rather than presenting the same solution for every situation, we discussed how functions, interfaces and connectivity should be evaluated in relation to the actual system and project conditions.

Learning About Practical Market Challenges

The most valuable part of the visit was not simply presenting products. It was learning how HVAC professionals select, install, integrate and support control solutions in their own market, while gaining a clearer understanding of the challenges they face—from matching products with existing systems and project requirements to installation, commissioning and ongoing technical support. These insights help us improve how we organise our solutions, communicate product differences and provide relevant technical information.
